Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information Panic Button handles when you use the privacy-awareness assessment, request a report, or purchase an optional action plan.
Information we handle
The assessment uses the answers you choose to calculate an estimated Digital Exposure Score, risk level, category results, and recommended actions. If you submit the report-access form, Panic Button also handles the first name and email address you provide. If you complete the optional intake, it handles the details you choose to enter. Please do not submit passwords, Social Security numbers, financial account details, security answers, or identity documents.
How the information is used
Assessment answers are used to generate your score, results, recommendations, and downloadable free report. Name and email information is used to personalize report access in the current browser. Optional intake information is used to prepare the next report-delivery step. Panic Button does not use the assessment to perform a professional background search, credit check, identity-monitoring search, or cybersecurity audit.
Browser storage
Assessment progress, report-access information, and optional intake information are currently stored in your browser using local storage. They remain on that browser unless you clear them through available application controls or your browser settings. Clearing browser data may remove your saved progress and locally stored report information.
Checkout and purchase records
When Stripe Checkout is enabled and you choose the $29 action plan, the checkout button sends a request to the Panic Button server to create a hosted Stripe Checkout Session. Stripe processes the payment information on its own pages; Panic Button does not create or store card-number fields. After Stripe sends a verified payment confirmation, Panic Button stores a limited server-side purchase record containing Stripe transaction identifiers, payment time, and delivery status so the purchase can be fulfilled and duplicate fulfillment can be prevented.
Service providers
Stripe may process payment, contact, device, and transaction information under Stripe’s own terms and privacy practices when checkout is enabled. No automated email-delivery provider is currently connected. Links to third-party resources are governed by those providers’ practices.
Technical information, cookies, and analytics
Panic Button does not currently connect a third-party analytics service, advertising pixel, or application-created tracking cookie. The application generates limited interface events inside the current browser, but it does not send those events to an analytics provider. As with ordinary website hosting, the hosting platform and network infrastructure may process technical request information such as IP address, browser type, device information, requested pages, timestamps, and security logs.
Retention and deletion
Locally stored information remains until it is cleared from the browser. Verified purchase records are retained on the application’s persistent server storage; a final production retention period has not yet been established. To ask about access to or deletion of a server-side purchase record, email the support address below. Panic Button may need transaction details to locate the record and may retain information when reasonably necessary for payment records, dispute handling, security, or legal obligations.
Security limitations
Panic Button uses hosted Stripe Checkout so payment-card fields are handled by Stripe rather than custom Panic Button fields. No website, browser-storage system, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. You are responsible for securing your device, browser profile, email account, and passwords.
Children
Panic Button is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. Do not submit information about a child through the service.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the application’s actual features, providers, or data practices change. The Last Updated date at the top identifies the current version.
